Über Verde Spluga
Verde Spluga (VERDE SPLUGA, SPLÜGEN-QUARZIT, PIETRA SMERALDA) is a Permian gneiss quarried at Isolato/Madesimo/Splügen Pass, Sondrio, Liguria-Lombardy, Italy. Petrographically a gneiss (DNSA); commercially sold as 'quartzite' in Italian and international trade. Input group 'Quartzite' is the commercial category; DNSA classifies as Gneis. DNSA #3751: density 2675 kg/m3, compressive strength 193 MPa, flexural strength 18.5-19.3 MPa, water absorption 0.29 wt.%, abrasion 2.39 cm2/50cm2. Frost-resistant. Only matt gloss achievable. Suitable for flooring. Very frequently used in Germany. SC s63 corroborates with slightly different values (comp 176-212 MPa, flex 27.4-27.6 MPa, density 2650).
