Über Duke White

Duke White (also Bianco Veglia) is a Permian fine-grained gneiss quarried at Piedilago, near Domodossola in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province, Piedmont, Italy. DNSA Stein 6415 is the primary source; SC s10685 (Duke White Granite) corroborates the origin. Petrographic type is gneiss (metamorphic); SC uses 'granite' which is a common trade misnomer for hard metamorphic stones. Technical profile from DNSA: density 2657 kg/m³, compressive strength 171.4 MPa, flexural strength 16.8 MPa, water absorption 3.75%. The stone is acid-resistant within normal range, frost-resistant, and polishable — the polish is durable even for exterior applications. Suitable for flooring, wall cladding, and exterior paving.
