Galaxy Black (STAR GALAXY, BLACK GALAXY, BLACK AND GOLD) is a Precambrian medium-grained gabbro quarried at Ongole/Madras area, Andhra Pradesh, India. Input group 'Other' is commercial; DNSA classifies as Gabbro (Tiefengesteine). DNSA #3447: density 2830-2950 kg/m3, compressive strength 183-203 MPa, flexural strength 19.1-20.1 MPa, water absorption 0.08-0.12%. Acid-resistant. Frost-resistant. Polish durable outdoors. Suitable for flooring. Frequently used in Germany. The characteristic gold/bronze metallic speckles are bronzite (hypersthene) minerals. One of the world's most recognizable black decorative stones.
