Über Fior di Bosco

Fior di Bosco is one of the commercial trade names for NOISETTE FLEURI GRIGIO (DNSA #6119), a Tertiary limestone quarried near Suvereto in the Province of Livorno, Tuscany, Italy, approximately 100 km south of Carrara. Other names include Etruscan Grey, Grey Fleury, Noicette Fleuri. DNSA classifies it as Kalkstein (limestone), Tertiary, sedimentary -- the commercial "marble" designation is accepted for this decorative calcareous stone. The stone is grey with a spotted structure. Technical data from DNSA: density 2680 kg/m3, compressive strength 122.9 MPa, flexural strength 17 MPa, water absorption 0.26%, porosity 0.98%. Polish is possible but not durable outdoors. Acid-sensitive. No frost resistance data.
