Über Daino Reale

Daino Reale (PERLATO TIRRENO, PERLATO DEINO, PERLATO OLIMPO, PERLATO DAINO, DAINO REALE) is a Tertiary banded limestone quarried at Dorgali/Orosei, Sardinia, Italy. Input group 'Marble' is the commercial classification; petrographically a limestone (DNSA: Kalkstein). DNSA #1168: density 2570 kg/m3, compressive strength 116.9 MPa, flexural strength 14.7 MPa, water absorption 0.324%. Acid-sensitive. Polish NOT durable outdoors. Flooring possible but lower abrasion resistance than hard stones. Very frequently used in Germany. The 'Daino' (fallow deer) name describes its warm beige-brown colour.
