Über Bianco Perlino
Bianco Perlino (DNSA #1988: ASIAGO BIANCO = PERLA BIANCO = ASIAGO PERLA MARINA = PERLINO BIANCO) is a Lower Cretaceous limestone quarried at Asiago/Trento in the Veneto Alps, Italy (Tre Venezie). Ivory-white to cream-white with a subtle veined (geadert) structure. Traded as marble but petrographically a Cretaceous sedimentary limestone. Also known as Biancone di Asiago, Pietra di Asiago, and several other regional names. DNSA technical data: density 2700 kg/m3, compressive strength 185 MPa, compressive strength after frost 128 MPa. SC s6317 adds: flexural strength 12.56 MPa, water absorption 0.11%. Acid-sensitive (carbonate limestone). IMPORTANT: NOT frost-resistant (DNSA: nicht frostbestaendig) -- interior use only, not suitable for exposed exterior applications. Floor-suitable at limestone level. Polish possible but not durable outdoors. Occasionally used in Germany. INSK 72.4 / old 8.6.1.
