Über Ceppo Beige
Ceppo di Bege is the beige colorway within the Ceppo di Gre conglomerate stone family, quarried in the Lago d'Iseo / Bergamo area of Lombardy, Italy (Gre/Pianico/Castro/Riva di Solto quarry zone). The Ceppo di Gre family is a dolomitic breccia-conglomerate of Quaternary age: dolomitic clasts collapsed from Monte Clemo and were cemented by a calcareous matrix under glacial compression. The beige variant has a warmer, cream-to-beige ground colour compared to the grey-dominant standard Ceppo di Gre, but retains the same irregular brecciated pebble structure. DNSA lists only the grey variants (#3243 Ceppo di Gre and #1498 Ceppo Grigio); no dedicated DNSA entry exists for the beige variant. Technical data from DNSA #3243 is used as representative reference for the stone family: density 2252 kg/m3, compressive strength 21.3 MPa, flexural strength 4.4 MPa, water absorption 3.34%. Polish is not possible; stone is acid-sensitive (calcareous matrix); probably frost-resistant; not recommended as high-traffic indoor flooring.
