Volga Blue (also Wolga Blue) is a Precambrian anorthosite quarried in the Zhytomyr region (Golovinskoye/Cherniakhiv area), Ukraine. The stone is characterised by a deep blue-black ground with intense labradorescent iridescence caused by plagioclase-rich mineralogy. DNSA has two entries: WOLGA BLUE (#5638, coarse-grained) and RASPUTIN (#1561, gigantic-grained), both using VOLGA BLUE/WOLGA BLUE as trade names from the same Zhytomyr area. Technically classified as anorthosite (intrusive igneous), not granite as SC labels it. SC source-5 provides technical data: density 2750-2840 kg/m³, water absorption 0.21%, flexural 21 MPa, compressive 162 MPa. Frost-resistant, suitable for interior and exterior. Blue Notte (source-6, different origin/colour) excluded.
