Über Rosso Lepanto
Rosso Lepanto is a trade name with a documented identity conflict. DNSA identifies 'ROSSO LEPANTO' as an alias for ELAZIG VISNE (also ROSSO LEVANTO TURCHIA, ELAZIG CHERRY), a Mesozoic serpentinite from Madenkazasi/Elazig, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey. Properties: density 2610 kg/m3, compressive strength 99.9 MPa, flexural strength 6.57 MPa, compressive strength (frost) 51.1 MPa, abrasion 29.4 cm3/50cm2. Structure: brecciated/nodular. Polish possible but not fully durable outdoors. StoneContact lists 'Rosso Lepanto Marble' as an Italian marble from Levanto/Liguria (density 2730-2800 kg/m3, flex 8.8-9.0 MPa, comp 72.9-94.5 MPa, water absorption 3.1-3.2%). The Italian stone is essentially Rosso Levanto marble -- a different material. Record deferred pending identity disambiguation.
