Equator Marmara (Marmara Equator Marble) is a white to semi-white Turkish marble quarried on Marmara Island, Balikesir province, Turkey. The stone belongs to the Marmara white marble family — one of the most historically important and widely exported marble groups, quarried since ancient times. The Equator grade is characterized by a semi-white to cream background with prominent linear grey veining in a parallel, striped pattern (hence the 'Equator' trade name and related names like Striato Olimpico, Zebra Marmara). SC source-5 provides the technical profile: density 2730 kg/m³, flexural 11.08 MPa, compressive 70.30–117.0 MPa (wide range reflecting directional anisotropy — parallel vs. perpendicular to foliation), WA 0.20% by volume. The wide compressive range is typical of Marmara marble and not a data quality issue. Suitable for both interior and exterior use.
