Galilee Grey (also Galilee Gray) is a grey-toned limestone quarried in the Galil (Galilee) region of northern Israel by Grebelsky quarry. Despite its commercial classification as 'marble', the stone is petrographically a limestone — a common trade practice for dense, polishable limestones in the Israeli and Middle Eastern stone market. The stone exhibits a uniform cool grey colour suited to contemporary architectural applications. It is used primarily for interior flooring, wall cladding, and high-end residential projects; it is specified for low-to-medium traffic areas only due to its limestone properties. The stone may react to moisture (mineral deposits can cause spalling), and sealing is recommended. No technical numeric data (density, compressive strength, water absorption) is available from DNSA, StoneContact, or the Grebelsky manufacturer page.
