Über Anröchter Dolomit
Anrochter Dolomit is one of the most widely used German natural stones, quarried at Anrochte and Klieve in the Soest district of North Rhine-Westphalia. The DNSA official name is ANROECHTER KALKSTEIN (Anrochter Limestone), but the trade names ANROECHTER DOLOMIT and ANROECHTER GRUENSTEIN (Anrochter Greenstone) are equally common in the German market. The stone is a Cretaceous-age sedimentary limestone (not a true dolomite despite the trade name; slightly dolomitized). Its characteristic greenish-grey color derives from glauconite mineral inclusions. The stone has a largely directionless, fine-grained structure with high porosity (10.5%) and relatively high water absorption (4.0%) for a building stone. DNSA technical data: density 2550 kg/m3, compressive strength 85 MPa, flexural 19.5-26.7 MPa, abrasion 25.8 cm2/50cm2, water absorption 4.0%, porosity 10.5%, thermal expansion 0.90 mm/m/100K. The stone is acid-sensitive (limestone), frost-resistant, and suitable for flooring. Only fine grinding or matte gloss finishes are achievable — high polish is not possible. Queue group 'Sandstone' is a misclassification; the stone is a limestone (sedimentary). Very widely used in Germany as a building and cladding stone.
