Über Galilee Gold
Galilee Golden Vein (trade name also shortened to Galilee Gold) is a fossiliferous beige limestone quarried at Karmiel (Carmiel) in Western Galilee, Northern Israel. DNSA (no. 0372) classifies it as a Mesozoic sedimentary limestone with clearly recognizable fossil content, currently in production but rarely seen in the German market. StoneContact (s9821) documents technical data from the quarry: density 2530–2600 kg/m³, flexural strength 7.5–12.2 MPa, compressive strength 66–76 MPa, water absorption 1.5%. Widely used as building stone, countertops, sinks, pool coping, sills, facades, and ornamental stone for both interior and exterior applications. Available in a broad range of finishes: honed, polished, aged, sawn, rockfaced, sandblasted, bushhammered, and tumbled. As a limestone, it is sensitive to acidic environments — not recommended for acid-contact surfaces without sealing.
