Suede, also marketed as Coffee Brown, Arizona Brown, and Colorado Brown, is a charnockite quarried in the Karimnagar district of Telangana, India. Charnockite is a granulite-facies metamorphic rock of Precambrian age with a composition close to that of granite but formed under high-temperature, dry conditions; in the trade it is typically sold as a granite. The stone is coarse-grained with a largely isotropic structure and a characteristic brown-grey coloration. It takes a lasting outdoor polish and is resistant to acid attack and frost, making it well suited to exterior cladding and flooring.
