Characteristic banded multi-coloured appearance with alternating bands of red, yellow, purple, and green tones -- hence the commercial name. SC s4487 (Jaipur Rainbow Sandstone) technical data: density 2070-2110 kg/m3, compressive 41-63 MPa, flexural 7-11 MPa, water absorption 8-11%. Relatively soft and porous compared to granite or quartzite. Acid-resistant (silicate sandstone). Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Note: DNSA has no quantitative tech data for this entry; SC data used. Note: multiple unrelated stones share the "Rainbow" trade name -- this record is scoped to the Indian Rajasthan sandstone only.
