Nagadeh Gold, also known by its Italian trade name Onice Giallo, is a calcitic onyx of Quaternary age quarried near the city of Nagadeh in West Azerbaijan province, northwestern Iran. DNSA classifies it as an onyx in the sedimentary group with an irregularly clouded structure — the characteristic diffuse banding typical of Iranian onyxes. As a calcitic onyx, it is acid-sensitive, relatively porous, and unsuitable for outdoor use or unprotected wet areas. Its golden-yellow to warm amber coloration with irregular clouding makes it a decorative interior stone prized for backlit panels, countertops, and accent elements. No standardized technical test data (density, compressive/flexural strength, water absorption) has been found in any searched source; this is not unusual for ornamental calcitic onyx traded primarily in slab form. The stone has an established European market presence, noted as occasionally used in Germany.
