Über Marine Black
Marinace Black is the queue trade name for NERO MARINACE (DNSA #5561), a Brazilian metaconglomerate (Grobklastit — metamorphic coarse clastic rock) quarried at Oliveira dos Brejinhos, Bahia. Precambrian age; metamorphic geological group. The stone's signature appearance is a brecciated and nodular texture of rounded quartzite pebbles embedded in a dark fine-grained matrix, creating a distinctive mosaic-like pattern. DNSA trade names: NERO MARINACE, BLACK MARINACE, MARINACE, MORGAN BLACK, MOSAICO NERO. Technical data (DNSA): density 2600 kg/m3, compressive strength 90 MPa, water absorption 0.10%. Frost-resistant; acid resistance limited (some mineral constituents not permanently acid-resistant); outdoor polish only conditionally durable. SC source-4 (Black Marinace Granite) lists different tech values (comp 190-220 MPa) — likely sourced from a different quarry section or are unreliable; DNSA values used as authoritative. SC source-5 (Black Mosaic Granite) and source-6 (Pebble Granite) reflect the visual character of the stone but are different products.
