Über Baltic Rot
Baltic Rot, also known as Baltic Red or Baltik Rot, is a coarse-grained Precambrian granite quarried at Sippola and Ruotila in the Anjalankoski district near Kotka, Finland. It is one of the most widely used red granites in Germany (DNSA: "sehr haeufig eingesetzt"). The stone has a largely random structure with coarse grain size, producing a bold red appearance with feldspar and quartz minerals. DNSA #1976 is the primary anchor (source-2): density 2580 kg/m3, compressive strength 179 MPa, flexural strength 10.9 MPa, water absorption 0.24%. SC source-4 (Karelia Red Granite, s9677) corroborates the origin and gives slightly different values (density 2630 kg/m3, compressive 176 MPa), consistent with natural variability. Frost-resistant, acid-resistant (normal range), and polishable with durable outdoor polish -- suitable for both interior and exterior applications including facades, paving, and countertops.
