Über Azul Aran

Azul Aran (trade synonyms: Valdaran, Azul d'Aran) is a Carboniferous pegmatite quarried at Les/Bosost in the Val d'Aran valley, Pyrenees, Spain. Petrographically it is a plutonic rock with very coarse to giant crystals, giving it a distinctively spotted or near-directional appearance. The dominant colour is silvery blue-grey with large feldspar and quartz crystals producing scattered lighter patches. DNSA records two samples (stones #2525 and #3410) with identical technical data: density 2600 kg/m³, compressive strength 99.9 MPa, flexural strength 10.1 MPa, water absorption 0.36%, abrasion resistance 1.89 (Italian norm). Polish is durable for exterior use. Frost-resistant and suitable for flooring. Very frequently used in Germany. Note: 'New Azul Aran' and 'Lennon Granite' are distinct Brazilian stones and should not be confused with the Spanish original.
