Rojo Alicante (DNSA Stein 2066: ALICANTE ROJO, ROSSO ALICANTE, ROJO ALICANTE) is a Tertiary limestone quarried near Monovar and Novelda in the Alicante province, Spain. Commercially sold as marble. DNSA technical data: density 2710 kg/m³, compressive strength 96.5 MPa, flexural strength 8.9 MPa, water absorption 0.1%, abrasion 2.42 cm³/50cm², porosity 0.3 vol.%. As a calcareous limestone, it is acid-sensitive and the polish is not durable outdoors. SC Rosso Alicante (s2710) corroborates origin (Monovar/Novelda/Alicante) with similar but slightly divergent tech values. DNSA records it as occasionally used in Germany.
