Über Drama Green
Drama Green encompasses green marbles quarried in the Drama/Kavala region of northern Greece. DNSA records two varieties: Stein 4465 (GREEN STAR, VERDE ASTORIA, XIROPOTAMOS GREEN — a silicate marble from Xiropotamos, Early Paleozoic) and Stein 1111 (VERDE LUKAS, VATHILAKOS GREEN, PHENIX — a marble from Chionotripa/Vathilakos, Paleozoic). Both varieties have a deep green background with white veining and are metamorphic rocks. Properties differ significantly between varieties: Xiropotamos (comp 56.1 MPa, flex 8.0 MPa, WA 0.18%) is softer and less dense (2650 kg/m³); Vathilakos/Verde Lukas (comp 102.2 MPa, flex 16.5 MPa, WA 0.19%) is denser (2720 kg/m³) and stronger. DNSA notes polished finish is not weather-durable for either variety, and both are acid-sensitive. Neither is suitable as a high-traffic floor stone (lower abrasion resistance).
