Über Giallo Didone Samarcanda

Didone Limestone, quarried near Mateur in northern Tunisia, is a beige to cream-coloured limestone widely traded under the names Giallo Didone, Samarcanda, Pierre de Samarcanda, and Creme de Mateur. The stone is relatively soft for a limestone (compressive strength 55.5-62.5 MPa) with higher water absorption (2.76%) than denser limestones, suggesting it is better suited to interior applications. Queue group was 'Marble' but the stone is petrographically a limestone. Technical data from StoneContact (medium confidence only — no DNSA entry found).
