Über Cioccolato

Cioccolato ('chocolate' in Italian) is one of several European market names for CHOCOLATE BRASIL, a Brazilian marble registered in DNSA as Stein 1832. The stone is quarried in the Cachoeiro de Itapemirim region of Espírito Santo state, Brazil — one of the world's major marble-producing areas. Other trade names include VITORIA PALISANDRO, CAFE DO BRASIL, CIOCCOLATA, and BRUNO AMAZONIA. It is a Precambrian metamorphic marble with a layered, directionally oriented fabric and a warm dark-brown to chocolate-brown coloration. Technical data confirmed by both DNSA and StoneContact: density 2730 kg/m³, water absorption 0.01% (very dense), compressive strength 69.0 MPa, flexural strength 17.5 MPa, abrasion 4.02 cm³/50cm². The stone is acid-sensitive (carbonate marble) but frost-resistant per DNSA. Suited to interior flooring, cladding, and decorative work; frost resistance allows cautious exterior use in sheltered positions.
