Über Portoro Brown

Portoro Brown is a commercial trade name for a brown marble quarried in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China. The stone is characterised by a warm brown body with thin white veining and high natural gloss. It is widely exported under a range of names — Dynasty Brown, Ming Brown, Yixing Coffee, Sable Brown, Coffee Brown, China Portoro — with 'Portoro Brown' being one of several Western market aliases. Three StoneContact entries (s4849, s2697, s6029) all list 'Portoro Brown Marble' among their aliases and describe the same Yixing/Jiangsu origin. A DNSA entry (Stein 5540, M067/PORTORO GOLD) from Hubei was retrieved but represents a different brecciated limestone stone and was excluded from the technical data.
